Great interest at EUNICE Staff Week hosted by Karlstad University (Sweden) to learn spoken English language skills and networking<\/h3>\n[\/vc_column_text][vc_column_text css=”” text_direction=”default”]From June 10\u201312, administrative staff from the EUNICE universities visited Karlstad University to participate in\u00a0Spoken English \u2013 Enhance Your Communication Skills<\/em>. Over three days, interactive and practical lessons were combined with social and cultural activities.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt has been a fantastic experience,\u201d said Claudia Chaves, academic coordinator and lecturer in the nursing program in Viseu, Portugal. \u201cI\u2019ve received many useful tips, and I also took the opportunity to meet with colleagues from the nursing program here to discuss exchanges and joint projects.\u201d<\/p>\n

In addition to professional development in spoken English, led by teachers from Karlstad University and the University of the Peloponnese, the 16 participants were given guided tours of the campus and Karlstad, including a boat trip to Mariebergsskogen. Eva-Lena Andersson, International Coordinator, was one of the event organizers.<\/p>\n

\u201cThere was a lot of interest, and we had participants from eight of EUNICE\u2019s ten partner universities. It\u2019s been great to showcase Karlstad and our university, and to get to know and network with other staff members within the alliance. It took quite a bit of work to prepare, but now that everything has gone smoothly and been appreciated, it just feels rewarding!\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cThese have been intense and educational days,\u201d said Paula Ollikkala, finance assistant from Vaasa, Finland. \u201cI really like the atmosphere here at the university, and the buildings are modern and beautiful.
