C4W<\/strong> Project<\/strong>:<\/strong>\u00a0<\/strong>25 Postdoctoral Fellowships <\/strong>at UMONS and UVA <\/strong>to Advance Cleantech Research<\/strong>\u00a0<\/strong><\/h3>\n[\/vc_column_text][vc_column_text css=\u00bb\u00bb text_direction=\u00bbdefault\u00bb]The Cleantech4Wallonia & Vaasa (C4W)<\/strong> project, recently selected under the Marie <\/strong>Sk\u0142odowska<\/strong>-Curie Actions \u2013 COFUND<\/strong> scheme, marks a significant step forward for cleantech research. Coordinated by the\u00a0University of Mons (UMONS)<\/strong> and the University of Vaasa (UVA)<\/strong>, the programme will fund 25 postdoctoral fellowships in the field of clean technologies.<\/p>\n

C4W focuses on cutting-edge research areas such as emissions reduction, energy efficiency, sustainable materials and the circular economy.\u00a0Over a 30-month period, 15 fellows will be hosted at UMONS and 10 at UVA. Beyond research excellence, the programme offers structured training, enhanced supervision, and an interdisciplinary environment designed to translate scientific results into practical cleantech solutions.<\/p>\n

A distinctive feature of C4W is its strong entrepreneurial dimension. Fellows will receive early training in innovation and knowledge transfer, encouraging the creation of start-ups or close collaboration with industrial partners. International and intersectoral mobility will be embedded in each fellowship, strengthening links between academia, industry, and regional ecosystems.<\/p>\n

It was in this context that a Finnish delegation from the University of Vaasa \u2014 including Rector Minna Martikainen<\/strong>, Vice-Rector for Research Mika <\/strong>Grundstr\u00f6m<\/strong>, and European advisor Philippe Vanrie<\/strong> \u2014 visited UMONS in March 2026.\u00a0Research teams presented their work on key topics addressing current climate and industrial challenges: biotechnologies for pollution control, valorisation of agri-food by-products, sustainable polymer materials, nanomaterials for energy, optimisation of energy systems, and electricity grid modelling.[\/vc_column_text][image_with_animation image_url=\u00bb63523″ image_size=\u00bblarge\u00bb max_width=\u00bb100%\u00bb max_width_mobile=\u00bbdefault\u00bb animation_type=\u00bbentrance\u00bb animation=\u00bbNone\u00bb animation_movement_type=\u00bbtransform_y\u00bb hover_animation=\u00bbnone\u00bb alignment=\u00bb\u00bb border_radius=\u00bbnone\u00bb box_shadow=\u00bbnone\u00bb image_loading=\u00bbdefault\u00bb][vc_column_text css=\u00bb\u00bb text_direction=\u00bbdefault\u00bb]The programme will officially launch in the coming months.
