It gathers scientists working in the fields of science in which mechanical vibrations play an important role. The thematic scope of the conference includes, among others, dynamics of machinery, vibroacoustics, waves in solids and liquids, stability and control issues, and biomechanics. The conference brings together <strong>mechanics<\/strong>, <strong>mathematicians<\/strong>, <strong>engineer-constructors<\/strong>, <strong>technologists<\/strong> and <strong>physicists<\/strong> around the latest advances in basic and applied sciences. It creates the conditions for exchanging experiences and establishing collaborations.<\/p>\r\n<p>The first symposium on linear and nonlinear vibrations took place in 1960 in Pozna\u0144 (Poland). The work of the organising committee was headed by the chairman of the Poznan Department of PTMTS \u2013 prof. Edmund Kara\u015bkiewicz. The idea of the periodically organised conferences was continued in the next years under the chairmanship of prof. Czes\u0142aw Cempel and prof. Jaros\u0142aw Stefaniak.<\/p>\r\n\r\n<p>The places of the next editions of this conference were the resort in B\u0142a\u017cejewko near K\u00f3rnik and the conference centre of the Institute of Mathematics of the Polish Academy of Sciences in B\u0119dlewo (Poland).<\/p>\r\n<p>The Symposium has permanently entered the calendar of Polish scientific events.
