Over \u20ac 1.3 <\/em>million<\/em> European<\/em> funding\u00a0enables mentoring of school-to-university transition activities<\/em><\/h3>\n[\/vc_column_text][vc_column_text]OUI Project \u201c<\/strong>Everywhere<\/strong><\/em> from <\/strong><\/em>here<\/strong><\/em>\u201d<\/strong><\/em> started last January, thanks to funding allocated under the National Recovery and Resilience Plan (PNRR), an Italian tool that\u00a0uses Next Generation Europe funds to make Italy more equitable, sustainable and inclusive.<\/p>\n

As part of this project, the University of Catania is carrying out 271 Active <\/em><\/strong>Orientation<\/strong> in School-University <\/strong>Transition<\/strong><\/em>\u00a0<\/strong>courses<\/strong> with the involvement of school and university professors, in order to consolidate skills expendable in university and labour market.<\/p>\n

More <\/strong>than<\/strong> 1.3 <\/strong>million<\/strong>\u00a0<\/strong>euros<\/strong>\u00a0assigned by the Italian\u00a0Ministry of University and Research\u00a0enabled the involvement of 5,000 <\/strong>students<\/strong> in the third, fourth and fifth\u00a0grades of 33 high schools<\/strong> in southeastern\u00a0Sicily.[\/vc_column_text][image_with_animation image_url=”12218″ image_size=”full” animation_type=”entrance” animation=”None” animation_movement_type=”transform_y” hover_animation=”none” alignment=”” img_link_large=”yes” border_radius=”none” box_shadow=”none” image_loading=”default” max_width=”100%” max_width_mobile=”default”][vc_column_text]The first two project phases\u00a0consisted of 7-hour common core <\/strong>modules<\/strong> delivered in high schools, by University of Catania’s Communication Area office, aimed at giving students the opportunity to learn about the higher education context, learn about the various opportunities for personal growth in building a sustainable and inclusive society, and acquire soft skills useful for learning and working.<\/p>\n

The first general part, common to all students, was an occasion to inform them about international opportunities offered by the University of Catania, with a specific focus on EUNICE European University. Afterwards, practical educational experiences and workshops were delivered to students specifically based on their interests and attitudes.<\/p>\n

Regarding the third phase, workshops<\/strong>\u00a0were\u00a0held in schools or university\u00a0teaching, research and service facilities. Students had the opportunity to experience\u00a0active, participatory and laboratory training oriented<\/strong> to the <\/strong>scientific<\/strong>\u00a0<\/strong>method<\/strong>, particularly in the fields of economics, law and social policy, humanities, medicine and health, science and technical sciences, as\u00a0well\u00a0as in interdisciplinary\u00a0subject\u00a0areas on the enhancement of basic skills for access to university\u00a0education; on knowledge of artistic, cultural and environmental\u00a0heritage and related\u00a0experimentation in technology, organization and management; and on expressiveness, communication and performing\u00a0arts\u00a0at the University Theater Center.<\/p>\n

The first workshops activated are “Analysis of Gait, Running and Explosive Force in Sport” by Prof. Giuseppe Musumeci at the Laboratory of Clinical Kinesiology in the Biological Tower of the University, and “3D-Eco: Realize in 3D printing your eco-sustainable\u00a0object” by Prof. Gianluca Cicala at the Technological Pole in the Department of Engineering.[\/vc_column_text][vc_gallery type=”flexslider_style” images=”12219,12220″ onclick=”link_image” img_size=”600×400″][\/vc_column][\/vc_row]\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
