230 students from 53 European university alliances worked on these proposals and they then voted on in the European Parliament in Strasbourg, during the European Student Assembly 2025. EUNICE alliance had a special influence in recommendations about AI regulations, greener actions, and support for diversity, local cultures and disability inclusion.<\/h3>\n[\/vc_column_text][\/vc_column][\/vc_row][vc_row type=”in_container” full_screen_row_position=”middle” column_margin=”default” column_direction=”default” column_direction_tablet=”default” column_direction_phone=”default” scene_position=”center” text_color=”dark” text_align=”left” row_border_radius=”none” row_border_radius_applies=”bg” overflow=”visible” overlay_strength=”0.3″ gradient_direction=”left_to_right” shape_divider_position=”bottom” bg_image_animation=”none”][vc_column column_padding=”no-extra-padding” column_padding_tablet=”inherit” column_padding_phone=”inherit” column_padding_position=”all” column_element_direction_desktop=”default” column_element_spacing=”default” desktop_text_alignment=”default” tablet_text_alignment=”default” phone_text_alignment=”default” background_color_opacity=”1″ background_hover_color_opacity=”1″ column_backdrop_filter=”none” column_shadow=”none” column_border_radius=”none” column_link_target=”_self” column_position=”default” gradient_direction=”left_to_right” overlay_strength=”0.3″ width=”2\/3″ tablet_width_inherit=”default” animation_type=”default” bg_image_animation=”none” border_type=”simple” column_border_width=”none” column_border_style=”solid”][vc_column_text css=”” text_direction=”default”]Five EUNICE students participated in the discussion panels of this year\u2019s edition of the European Student Assembly, that took place in the European Parliament in Strasbourg from 26 to 28 May. 230 students from 53 European university alliances participated in this gathering to discuss on many different topical issues and to propose policy recommendations to the European Commission.<\/p>\n

Those key matters of concern were categorised in eight thematic panels, having EUNICE representation in four of them: \u201cAI, European Democracy and Civic Engagement\u201d, attended by Mariana Magno from Polytechnic Institute of Viseu, \u201cInnovation for All\u201d, with the participation of Elena Mu\u00f1oz from University of Cantabria, \u201cUnity in Diversity\u201d, attended by Alexandros Chasapoglou from University of Peloponnese and by Maria Limongelli from University of Catania, and \u201cGreener Tomorrow\u201d, participated by Natasha Bhaskar Shinde from Brandenburg University of Technology Cottbus-Senftenberg.[\/vc_column_text][vc_column_text css=”” text_direction=”default”]Down-to-earth topics addressed in a multicultural gathering<\/strong><\/p>\n

The main purpose of this event was to provide a platform for students to delve into topical issues the European Union is facing, while sparking discussions and fostering intercultural exchange. \u201cThis experience allowed me to apply my theoretical knowledge in real policies,\u201d said Limongelli, and \u201cto talk to other people about something that is important for me.\u201d Mu\u00f1oz highlighted she could \u201cmeet a lot of people from other countries and know their points of view.\u201d Shinde expressed herself in a similar vein: \u201cto meet people from different cultures and backgrounds with whom I discussed a topic which is very closely related to my field of studies.\u201d Chasapoglou considered this gathering as \u201ca unique opportunity for students to come together and work in a real-life environment, to share ideas and influence policy makers,\u201d while Magno explained that the \u201cdifferent points of view and cultures\u201d between the participating students helped her get a wider perspective and spot \u201cthe differences in how they see European problems.\u201d<\/p>\n

There was a sixth student, Silvia Rabuazzo, linked to EUNICE -as she is enrolled at University of Catania- who attended the assembly too, but on behalf of EMERGE alliance due to an international stay she\u2019s currently doing at University of Flensburg. She highlighted the \u201cpractical point of view\u201d she got from the European Union, as well as the opportunity to \u201ccreate a network between the young people\u201d thanks to this event.<\/p>\n

Students worked online during the months prior to the face-to-face European Student Assembly in Strasbourg to discuss and draw up their proposals. Each panel agreed on 8 to 10 recommendations that were presented in a plenary session at the European Parliament on the last day of the gathering.
