This solution, \u201cSiCk detectors\u201d, was presented at \u201cUCem\u201d contest by Diego Rosich, who had already come in second place in the EUNICE Start Cup 2025. In addition, two other students engaged in EUNICE entrepreneurship initiatives were also awarded: Estela Molinero for \u201cSancantia\u201d and Miguel \u00c1ngel de Gregorio for \u201cU Seed\u201d<\/em><\/h3>\n[\/vc_column_text][vc_column_text css=”” text_direction=”default”]Three students from University of Cantabria (UC, Spain) who participated in entrepreneurship activities organised by EUNICE alliance were awarded in the 22nd edition of UCem<\/em> entrepreneurship competition at UC. Diego Rosich won two first prizes for its SiCk detectors<\/em> project, Estela Molinero came in second place in a specific category for her Sancantia<\/em> consultancy, and Miguel \u00c1ngel de Gregorio got a special mention for U Seed<\/em> project.<\/p>\n

SiCk detectors<\/strong><\/em> project, consisting of a solution to improve the effectiveness of cancer treatments, was proclaimed the \u201cBest Advanced Project\u201d, with a prize of 10,000 euros. In addition, SiCk detectors<\/em> also received the \u201cSustainable and\/or Social Entrepreneurship Award\u201d, endowed with 800 euros, for its potential impact on medical care for oncology patients. Diego Rosich<\/strong>, who developed this idea together with researchers Alberto Arteche and Iv\u00e1n Vila, had already represented University of Cantabria with SiCk detectors<\/em> at the EUNICE Start Cup 2025, the yearly EUNICE entrepreneurship contest which this year took place at University of Vaasa, Finland. Rosich came in second place, after WoundWise<\/em> project, a hydrogel that accelerates wound healing, which represented Poznan University of Technology (Poland).<\/p>\n

Sancantia<\/em>, a technology consultancy specialising in social and territorial impact, came in second place of the \u201cBest Advanced Project\u201d category, with a 4,500-euro prize. This project was proposed by Estela Molinero<\/strong>, who also participated in the EUNICE E-Lab, an entrepreneurship-focused Blended Intensive Programme of which face-to-face sessions took place this summer at University of Catania (Italy).<\/p>\n

In the \u201cSustainable and\/or Social Entrepreneurship\u201d category, U Seed<\/em><\/strong> project received a \u201cSpecial Mention\u201d, as it focuses on emotional wellbeing through plant therapy. This project already won the \u201ce2: Student x Entrepreneur\u201d competition, promoted by the Santander International Centre for Entrepreneurship. Also, one of its developers, Miguel \u00c1ngel de Gregorio<\/strong>, who is one of the EUNICE Ambassadors at University of Cantabria, was a semi-finalist in the EUNICE Start Cup 2025 and participated in the EUNICE E-Lab entrepreneurship training programme.<\/p>\n

The UCem<\/em> awards ceremony was presided over by UC\u2019s Rector Conchi L\u00f3pez, who stressed that \u201cat a time of great technological, environmental and social transformations, brave ideas and people capable of anticipating, detecting opportunities and generating impact are required.
