Held from June 23 to 27 at the historic Palacio de la Magdalena in Santander, this year\u2019s program focused on the theme \u201cApplications of Artificial Intelligence.\u201d<\/p>\n

Organized under the coordination of Professor Emmanuel Adam from the Polytechnic University Hauts-de-France and Professor Diego Garc\u00eda from the University of Cantabria, the event brought together eight faculty members from the EUNICE European University consortium and students at the bacherlor’s, master\u2019s and doctoral levels. Participants engaged in an intensive, high-level academic and intercultural experience.<\/p>\n

The course started on June 2nd with a series of online workshops and it\u00b4s been completed with five days of on-site classes. At attendees took part in lectures covering topics such as machine learning agents<\/strong>, generative AI<\/strong>, and practical applications in 3D design<\/strong> and healthcare<\/strong>. The programme also included cultural and networking activities, building on the collaborative relationships established during the online preparatory phase.<\/p>\n

In addition to the coordinating institutions, faculty from other EUNICE partner universities\u2014including the University of Catania (Italy), Poznan University of Technology (Poland), and the Polytechnic Institute of Viseu (Portugal)\u2014contributed offering a broad international perspective on the challenges and opportunities of artificial intelligence.<\/p>\n

Editions to come<\/strong><\/p>\n

According to Gabriel Moncali\u00e1n, representative of EUNICE Board of Directors at the University of Cantabria, \u201cthis marks the third edition of the EUNICE Summer School in this successful hybrid format.\u201d The programme is structured as a Blended Intensive Programme<\/strong> (BIP), combining online preparatory learning with an in-person week in Santander. He also highlighted the importance of European Commission travel grants, which make this hybrid model possible.<\/p>\n

Looking ahead, preparations are already underway for the 2026 and 2027<\/strong> editions. The call for proposals has recently closed, with seven submissions<\/strong> from international universities currently under evaluation.<\/p>\n

This initiative is supported by key EUNICE associated partners<\/strong>, including the Men\u00e9ndez Pelayo International University (UIMP), the City Council of Santander, and the Government of Cantabria, reinforcing Santander\u2019s role as a hub for European scientific events. The Summer School reflects EUNICE\u2019s commitment to delivering innovative, multidisciplinary education aligned with today\u2019s major technological and societal challenges.<\/p>\n
