EVIDENCE IN WOUNDS: RESEARCH AND CASE MANAGEMENT

The high prevalence of wounds and the complexity of wound management is a major global problem for all health care systems, seriously affecting the quality of life of people and caregivers. This course focuses on the development of skills in wound research that will allow students to apply the principles of evidence-based practice, select tools for wound management, allowing a more comprehensive knowledge that will enhance a better resolution of the management of complex cases. The approach will be dynamic and based on the analysis of scientific articles and guidelines provided with subsequent analysis and transfer during discussion of real clinical cases.

Learning outcomes:

  • To implement the evidence-based practice process in wound management.
  • To use assessment tools in wound management.
  • To apply recommendations and best practices available in wound care case management.

Objectives:

  • To develop basic knowledge about wound research.
  • To describe the importance of evidence-based practice in wound management.
  • To identify tools and methods used in wound management.

Teaching language: English.

1. Mode of Delivery: online live and on-site – online materials provided by the teachers in EUNICE Moodle Platform.

2. Learning Resources and Tools: All support material (PPT, articles, guidelines, and videos) will be uploaded on the virtual platform and will be provided by the professor.

  • Evidence in Wounds: Evidence Based Practice.
  • Methods and Instruments used in Wound Assessment.
  • Contributions of Research in Case Management.

Timetable:

Wednesdays (time slots: 17:00-19:00 CET) 2 hours per week

  • EUNICE student: enrolled as a student (Bachelors, Masters) in one of the universities of EUNICE European University alliance.
  • B2 level of English.
