GOAL OF EUNICE
Creation of a semi-large European University with a unique foundation in terms of educational offer related to the needs of the environment, societal and civilization challenges, which will be a scientific and infrastructure platform focused on close relations (regional and global) with enterprises and governmental units as well as capable of swift implementation of results into practice. In addition, it is an open, borderless and barrier-free University in terms of culture, religion and ideology, while cultivating European heritage at the same time.
The European University for Customised Education – EUNICE: a new European, multi-centric, intercultural, open, and person-centered University
EUNICE is an institution built on seven public European research universities, most of them of middle size, with a geographical configuration that plays a key role as gateways to all four European subregions (Central and Eastern Europe: Poznan University of Technology; Northern Europe: University of Vaasa; Southern Europe: University of Cantabria and University of Catania; Western Europe: University of Mons, Université Polytechnique Hauts-de-France and Brandenburg University of Technology Cottbus-Senftenberg).
The EUNICE model will consist of key mutually cooperating areas which together will correspond to the basic pillars of modern education, i.e.:
- working towards a new model of widely accessible mobility, and key Bologna commitments, including mutual recognition of credits and diplomas to meet high quality standards in the European Higher Education Area. Problem-based learning and curricular flexibility will endow students with
better opportunities on the global market.
- a comprehensive approach to language teaching and learning, promoting citizenship and shared values of freedom, tolerance and non-discrimination through education. Students will become aware and proud of their identity of Europeans and respectful of European cultural heritage and diversity,
while maintaining a global perspective.
- an open, virtual infrastructure platform for the development of education, research and innovation, dedicated to current and future needs of the environment and society.
- creating education and innovative scientific research and technological solutions for building a competitive knowledge-based economy to tackle current and future societal challenges.
This educational heptagon, designed to solve societal and economic challenges, both globally and locally, relies on an integrated network with the highest intellectual and infrastructural potential, with cross-related interactions between universities, industry and other social, artistic, cultural and sporting entities. The aim is to create opportunities for sustainable regional development, and thus global Europe. EUNICE will be an Inter-University Campus connecting students, teachers, researchers and administrative staff into one multi-core university campus creating an alternative to close, traditional and often non-perspective universities. It is to be a multi-center forge of talents, combining competence, professionalism, ethical values, aggregation, sustainability, multilingualism as means for multiculturalism and diversity.
