The Writers’ Lounge

Club activities:

• Writing challenges – each week, one challenge is chosen by a member. Theme, style, genre… All ideas have their place. However, no pressure. It is not mandatory to write each week, perfectly fine to participate only when you have time or inspiration.
• Writing calls – publishing is not necessary to be a writer… But it can be nice sometimes. Many magazines are looking for submissions, it’s not always easy to follow. Through a shared calendar, we can share opportunities together, in each language we have within the group.
• Multilingual space – being so many from different countries means we can speak different languages, see and discuss how it impacts our writing, how different we express ourselves in English compared to our native language.
• Discuss other creative activities – it is rare to have only one hobby. We discovered that we share many other things beyond writing: music, crocheting… If you wish, we have spaces to talk about our practices together.
• Bigger projects – are you ambitious? Our activities can be fun, but it is nice to have more challenging projects from time to time. Organising an upcoming EUNICE writing contest, maybe one day having a EUNICE magazine… Writing is not the only skill you’ll develop here.
• Anything you want! – the goal of the club is first of all to allow everyone to express themselves, feel comfortable enough to create whatever they want, and find collaborators for their projects. If you have ideas or wishes, we can discuss it together and try our best to make it come to life.
