The European Commission has awarded Erasmus Mundus funding to the new Master’s Programme in Innovative Bioinspired Materials for Sustainable Applications (IBISA). This master’s degree was developed by three EUNICE universities —the University of Cantabria (Spain), the University of Catania (Italy), and Poznan University of Technology (Poland)— together with Université de Pau et des Pays de l’Adour (France). This highly competitive European Commission award marks an important milestone for EUNICE and demonstrates how a European university network can ally to create ambitious, internationally competitive study programmes that address real-world challenges.
The Erasmus Mundus distinction places the programme among a select group of master’s degrees recognised worldwide for their quality, international outlook and ability to attract talented students from across the globe. This recognition will enable the programme to offer scholarships to outstanding students and strengthen international mobility opportunities.
The Master’s Programme will be delivered in 2027-28 with the support of a network of 20 associated partners representing universities, research institutes and companies from around the world. This programme aims to educate international students in the innovative and cross-disciplinary area of bioinspired materials, applied in a broad range of fields such as green energy, nanomedicine, and sustainable production. Graduates will be equipped with the knowledge and skills needed to contribute to research, innovation and industry sectors that are essential for Europe’s green and digital transitions.
