The Erasmus Champ Card Game

Do you really know the Erasmus+ programme? Let’s play and see!

The Erasmus Champ is a fully printable serious card game designed for players to share and acquire the key knowledge of the Erasmus+ programme and to strengthen links within a team.

Objectives of the tool

The new 2021-2027 Erasmus + programme is very dense and full of updates that can appear to be difficult to apprehend for IRO’s staff, whether they are beginners or experienced with Erasmus+.

This downloadable and printable card game gives the opportunity to update and challenge IRO’s knowledge on the programme, to memorize key information as well as fun facts on Erasmus+ in a playful way.

The Erasmus Champ is a competitive trivia game offering more than 100 questions on Erasmus+, organised in several categories: Key Action 1, Key Action 2, Key Action 3, Jean Monnet, as well as General questions. It can be played by 2 or more players, individually or in teams and is designed to be modular, allowing players to only play with one or several categories of questions. Its average length is set between 30 and 40 minutes and it is perfectly fit for warm up sessions, lunch breaks or team buildings.

By downloading this tool, you will have access to:

  • A printable version of the game and its tuck box
  • A questions pool excel table, allowing users to modify, complete or replace questions and use them for other purposes, such as Kahoot or Wooclap

How to play?

The Erasmus Champ Card Game is composed of 78 cards, including:

  • 3 “game rules” cards
  • 2 “player aid” cards
  • 55 “questions” cards
  • 18 “mystery” cards

1. The player takes the first card from the deck without looking at it.

2. The player (the respondent) gives the card to another player of his choice (the questioner).

3a. If they draw a “Mystery” card, the questioner reads the card and applies the card’s effect. Before moving on to the next round, the card(s) is/are discarded (unless otherwise indicated). The next player then draws a card.

3b. If they draw a “Questions” card, the questioner announces the category of the card (KA1, KA2, or General). The questioner chooses the question they want to ask. Once the question has been asked, the questioner asks the respondent what level of difficulty they would like to choose in order to answer, bearing in mind that:

  • 1 star = DUO, 2 answer choices
  • 2 stars = QUATRO, 4 answer choices
  • 3 stars = BINGO, 0 answer choices

If the answer is correct, the respondent wins the number of stars corresponding to the level of difficulty. If the answer is wrong, no star is awarded.

4. Before the next turn, the card is discarded. The next player then draws a card.

The first player to win all 12 stars symbolising the European flag ends the game and becomes The Erasmus Champ.
