Both winners of the EUNICE category of the Scientific Poster Contest and of the Show your PhD competition, which were open to EUNICE researchers, are PhD students at Université Polytechnique Hauts-de-France

Université Polytechnique Hauts-de-France (UPHF, France) was not only the host of this year’s edition of “Tuesday for Researchers” science dissemination event, that took place on 1 April, but also alma mater to the winners of the two competitions that took place in it: the Scientific Poster Contest and Show Your PhD. 113 posters and 9 artistic works were presented, respectively, by researchers from UPHF, University of Mons and other EUNICE partner universities. The participation in this event, attended by approximately 200 people, was open to researchers and PhD candidates from all EUNICE universities willing to disseminate their research projects.

EUNICE-category winner of Scientific Poster Contest

PhD student of UPHF Héloïse Vesque-Annear won the EUNICE category of the Scientific Poster Contest, and so she was awarded a €250 prize for the best poster across all categories. The title of her poster was “Resident cats in nursing homes: Pilot study on the attachment of caregivers and residents to cats in Alzheimer’s and disability units”, which consisted of an explanation of the importance and the benefits on the residents of cats living in nursing homes, from a social and psychological point of view.

Winner of Show Your PhD competition

PhD student of UPHF Soufiane Douimia was the winner of Show Your PhD, a competition for PhD candidates in which they were invited to disseminate their theses in an artistic way, being able to choose the format they wanted. Douimia created “AI with a human face”, a series of cartoons that explained the use of artificial intelligence in his work and highlighted the limits of AI in understanding and evaluating human beings.

The event

Tuesday for Researchers is a yearly scientific dissemination event in which a poster contest and the Show Your PhD competition take place, organised, in turn, by Université Polytechnique Hauts-de-France (France) and University of Mons (Belgium). This event is a place for researchers to discover the projects carried out by colleagues from different areas and, even, countries, and also to trigger collaborations between people, departments and institutions. It is open to all members of EUNICE partner institutions, so PhD students and researchers from any EUNICE university were invited to participate.
