Gender, Sexuality and Psychology

The aim of this course on Gender, Sexuality and Psychology is to introduce theories of and research on gender, sexuality, and psychology in gender studies, and to give an introduction to feminist and queer psychology. On the basis of knowledge about gender, sexuality, and psychology developed in gender studies, students acquire an understanding of the interplay between gender, sexuality, and psychological development. Students also develop skills required to reflect upon and analyse psychological research and practice based on an awareness of gender, class, ethnicity, religion, sexuality, and disability.

Upon completion of the course, students should be able to:

  • explain gender studies theories of and perspectives on gender, sexuality, and psychology,
  • give an account of how the interplay between gender, sexuality, and psychological development is
  • described in gender studies, and analyse and reflect critically upon psychological research and practice from a gender studies perspective.

Pre-recorded lecture will be accompanied by Zoom-based seminars to discuss the reading and questions, weekly  (1,5 h).

  • EUNICE bachelor’s degree student: enrolled as a bachelor’s degree student in one of the universities of EUNICE European University consortium (check its members here).
  • B2 level of English.
