EUNICE training programmes will introduce trending topics such as the Open Networked Learning, the Flip Blended Teaching Model, diferent approaches to international teaching and a variety of teaching tools

EUNICE is launching an Open Networked Learning course for teaching staff in September 2024. It will be offered by the University of Karlstad (Sweden) to professors of all EUNICE partner universities and will consist of two phases, the first of which will begin in September with the involvement of pedagogical managers, developers and engineers from the various pedagogical centres of EUNICE universities, who will later support the second phase that will involve teachers. Even though registrations are already closed, further calls for applications may come.

This course is the first of a series of pedagogical innovation offerings for 2024-2025 designed to empower professors of EUNICE partner universities with useful and up-to-date tools and knowledge for improving their teaching. From mastering online teaching platforms to exploring innovative teaching models and enhancing cross-cultural communication, this series of courses, webinars, and workshops aims to provide professors with further skills for today’s educational landscape.

So, this variety of pedagogical programmes is aimed at providing educators with new tools to enhance their teaching methods by developing their English lecturing skills, understanding internationalisation in teaching, or fostering a sense of community in digital environments, among several other examples.

About the EUNICE Pedagogical Innovation initative

Understanding distance learning as the future of education and as a way of guaranteeing access to any subject regardless of location, it “requires teachers to keep up with digital teaching trends and to adapt their methodologies,” said the organisers. This initiative will help teachers learn more about digital classrooms, new tools and methodologies for capturing students’ attention and also to share experiences and challenges with other colleagues. The Open Networked Learning course is “a crucial kick-start for pedagogical excellence within the EUNICE consortium,” they added.

About the Open Networked Learning course

The Open Networked Learning course will bring teaching staff, course developers, educational programmers, and educational technologists in higher education the opportunity to explore the potential of open, networked learning with colleagues from all over the world in a multidisciplinary and cross-cultural context. The organisers instisted on this course’s importance for “pedagogical improvement and career motivation.”

The course has been running for over 10 years, having been initiated in 2012 by Lars Uhlin and Maria Knvarnostrom from the Karolinska Institute (Sweden) and Chrissi Nerantzi from the University of Manchester (United Kingdom).
