EUNICE Discussion Club

The aim of this club is to facilitate a space for all students to discuss different topics. The focus is on areas including society, culture, politics etc., of the English-speaking world, but not only.

The Club mission is to foster open communication, encourage the exchange of ideas and opinions, develop communication skills, intercultural skills, and practice one’s English (key competences in EUNICE) in a friendly atmosphere. The principle guideline during the club meetings is the policy of respectfulness towards others’ opinions.

Join the meetings to discuss different topics. 

In the winter semester the meetings will be taking place on Tuesdays, 4:50 – 6:20pm.

Club activities:

  • Club meetings are held twice a month in person, in the afternoons after classes, at the Centre of Languages and Communication of PUT.
  • So far during the club meetings, we’ve discussed topics such as: the recent U.S. presidential election, the notion of post truth and media literacy in the age of technological globalization, the limits of free speech, facts and feelings regarding climate change, the crisis of media literacy, the concerning phenomenon of social media “brain rot”, Artificial Intelligence in art, the phenomenon of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, and social media’s influence on travelling.
  • PUT students have an opportunity to attend the meetings in person – there is a Club invite sent out a week before every meeting via student mailing list.
  • Target Groups: all students regardless of the year and cycle of studies
