About the camp

This immersive summer volunteering camp will combine hands-on learning, nature, and cultural discovery! Over two weeks, students will take part in practical activities ranging from eco-renovation of the historic Abbey of Maroilles in France to gardening, permaculture, and foraging in Belgium. Participants will learn traditional masonry techniques, explore circular economy initiatives, discover biodiversity-friendly cultivation, and engage in workshops on sustainable housing. The program also includes guided nature walks, wildlife observation, cultural visits, and opportunities to experience the rich heritage of the Avesnois and Mons regions. Open to EUNICE students with no prior background required: just curiosity, teamwork, and a passion for sustainability!

Participant profiles

This volunteering camp is particularly beneficial for participants interested in sustainable development, eco-responsability and renovation. A background in these fields is not mandatory.

Pre-requisites

  1. Applicants must be enrolled at a EUNICE institution (Bachelor, Master, PhD);
  2. Open to students from any field of study ;
  3. Be over the age of majority in France (18);
  4. Up-to-date tetanus vaccination required
  5. English B2 level

Practical Information

Accommodation is covered for the two weeks of the volunteering camp (see more details in the programme).

Meals will be provided:

  • In Valenciennes: From the 29th of June to the 2nd of July (Monday to Thursday). A kitchen will be available for students to cook their own meals from the 3rd to the 5th of July (Friday to Sunday).
  • In Mons: From the 6th to the 10th of July (Monday to Friday; breakfast and lunch).
