English for Academic Purposes (Spring edition)

ENGLISH FOR ACADEMIC PURPOSES (SPRING EDITION)

The course will provide three 5-hour modules concerning the communicative needs of PhD students who wish to participate at conferences. The modules will be delivered in an online live mode with online self-study components. The modules concentrate on skills necessary for:

  • writing abstracts,
  • analyzing the language of academic writing,
  • participating in a discussion,
  • presenting and interacting at conferences

By the end of the course participants will have mastered:

  • the ability to write abstracts following discipline specific conventions,
  • the ability to lead and contribute effectively to a discussion on an academic topic,
  • the ability to give effective presentations in different formats and to interact with other participants in conferences.

The programme of the course is divided into modules, and each module into three modules:

  1. Academic Writing
  2. Academic Meeting
  3. Academic Presentation

Module 1: 6, 12, 13* March | 10-11:30h
Module 2: 19, 26 March and 2 April* | 9-10:30h
Module 3: 20, 27 March and 3 April | 9-11h

  • EUNICE PhD students: enrolled as a student of a PhD degree in one of the universities of EUNICE European University consortium (check its members here).
  • Science and engineering students
  • B2-C1 in English CEFR level.
