These self-paced open courses can be taken until 19 December. New offerings include three climate change courses focused on estuarine ecosystems
The European University for Customized Education (EUNICE) has launched a new series of free, open-access online courses (MOOCs) aimed at students, professionals, and citizens interested in tackling major global challenges. Topics include globalization, ecological transition, marine ecosystem sustainability, and climate change adaptation in coastal environments.
All courses are delivered in English, available asynchronously, and hosted on the EUNICE online learning platform. Learners can progress at their own pace, accessing video lectures and learning materials from any device. Upon successful completion of each module’s test, participants receive a certificate of achievement.
The current offering includes three course collections, accessible until December 19, 2025:
- Introduction to Global Studies: Co-created under the coordination of the University of Cantabria by EUNICE partner universities, this course provides a multidisciplinary overview of globalization across economics, society, culture, health, and sustainability. It helps learners understand the complex relationships between local and global phenomena.
- Climate Change Adaptation in Estuarine Ecosystems: Developed by the Environmental Hydraulics Institute of Cantabria (IHCantabria) as part of the European LIFE ADAPTABLUES project, this new set of three courses explores strategies for adapting estuarine ecosystems to climate change.
- Sustainable Marine Ecosystems: A collection of four courses created within the Erasmus+ TRASMARES project, also led by IHCantabria, focusing on the sustainability of marine environments. These courses can be taken individually or as part of microcredential programs offered by the University of Cantabria.
