EUNICE, at the South-African ‘Stellenbosch International Academic Networks’ meeting

The alliance took part in this gathering to disseminate the consortium’s good practices, presenting EUNICE courses on Introduction to Global Studies as examples of the integration of global education into university teaching programmes

EUNICE took part in the 19^th Stellenbosch International Academic Networks, held from 14^th to 17^th March at the South-African Stellenbosch University, to disseminate the consortium’s good practices. EUNICE was represented by Professor Marta Gómez, representative of the University of Cantabria (Spain), involved in EUNICE’s working group related to Shaping European Citizens activities. She addressed the consortium as a key initiative for internationalisation of its partner universities and for the setting up of a network for collaboration in higher education and research.

Attendees learnt about EUNICE European University during the panel entitled Embedding global education outcomes in institutional learning and teaching programme development: Only a challenge or possible reality? In this panel, Prof. Gómez set out the basic lines of the strategy for integrating global education into university teaching programmes. She presented the courses on Introduction to Global Studies offered by EUNICE -its Massive Open Online Course and one of its Blended Intensive Programmes- as examples of good practices.

Since 2022 EUNICE offers a wide catalogue of online and blended courses and international internships that Bachelor, Master and PhD student of the member universities can enrol and may get recognised as part of their formal academic degree with ECTS.

The event

Stellenbosch International Academic Networks 2023 is the 19^th edition of a meeting which this year coincides with the 30^th anniversary of the internationalisation of the Stellenbosch University, in southwestern South Africa.

This 4-day international gathering was aimed at bringing new and existing partners together to network, discuss matters regarding internationalisation and to introduce the Stellenbosch University to the participants. The organisation referred to this event as “an opportunity to spend quality time with partners to grow and strengthen collaboration and deepen partnerships.”
