Around Europe Day on May 9, 2023, the Brandenburg University of Technology Cottbus-Senftenberg (BTU) and the city of Cottbus have planned a colorful program on the topic of Europe and invite to various events.
Getting to know other cultures and languages as well as having stimulating conversations about European politics – these and other activities will take place at the BTU and various locations in Cottbus as part of the 2nd Cottbus Europe Weeks in May. The BTU, the city, and other cooperating partners want to show that interculturalism is alive and well in Cottbus.
A highlight of the BTU will be the kick-off of the “Cottbus European Dialogues” (CEG). The citizen-oriented forum will firmly establish the exchange of ideas about Europe in Cottbus. The guest for the opening of the series of talks on May 9, 2023, will be former German Parliament President (ret.) Dr. Wolfgang Schäuble. What place Lusatia occupies in Europe will be discussed on May 10 in the online panel discussion on the topic of “Europe and Lusatia”, in which will discuss European concerns of the region.
Other events such as a Europe workshop in the CreativeOpenLab (CoLab), a study abroad fair and an international concert look forward to welcoming interested Europe fans.
Cottbus residents will be able to experience music, joy, and diverse encounters at numerous locations in the city. Among other things, there will be a public viewing of the Eurovision Song Contest, a Europe pub quiz, and foreign language speak dating.
Background to the Cottbus Europe Weeks:
The initiation of the Cottbus Europe Weeks is a cooperation of the International Relations Office of the BTU Cottbus-Senftenberg and the “Education & Integration” department of the Cottbus city administration. The BTU’s commitment focuses on the diversity of study opportunities across national borders. Programs such as Erasmus+ and European university alliances such as EUNICE (European University for Customised Education) bring Europe to life.
