In September 2023 Prof. Jacek Błażewicz was nominated as a member of Academia Europea. The award ceremony took place in October 2023 during the 34th Annual Conference of Academia Europaea (AE) and 12th of the Young Academy of Europe in Munich, Bavaria.
The meeting venue was the historical main building of the Ludwig-Maximilians-Universitaet at Geschwister-Scholl-Platz 1. The conference was opened by the President of the Academia Europaea Prof. Marja Makarow. All the participants gave their valuable contribution and insights during the plenary sessions with a wide spectrum of subjects. The new members were handed the nomination from the President during the awarding ceremony.
Prof. Jacek Błażewicz is a computer scientist and former Director of the Institute of Computing Science, at Poznań University of Technology. His field of research is mainly focused on theory of algorithms and bioinformatics. Poznan University of Technology has so far been able to boast of membership in the Academia Europaea of two of its employees: Prof. Elżbieta Frąckowiak and Prof. Roman Słowiński. PUT is honoured to bring one more member to this prestigious European scientific organization.
