Sunbit team will represent the Finish university with this energy-cost-reduction solution in the final of this entrepeneurship competition, that will take place in Italy in July 2023 and will gather participants from all EUNICE partner universities

Sprout Pitch Event 2023, University of Vaasa’s local phase of the EUNICE Imagine Innovation Cup, declared team Sunbit the winner on 17th May. Sunbit is a company founded by students that offers heating solutions that use excess heat from bitcoin miners to reduce heating costs in homes. Thus, these students will represent this Finish university in the final of the competition, that will gather teams from all EUNICE partner universities in Catania -Italy- in he month of July.

“I am really happy and positively surprised. I am very excited to present our idea in Italy. The context in other European countries is different than in the Nordics but our solution will be interesting in other countries as well. It can be use not only for heating homes but in industries too,” said Elmeri Suomi, founder of Sunbit. With him, Ville Vähä-Sullo will be traveling to Catania to present their idea in EUNICE Imagine Innovation Cup finals.

Other start-up ideas presented in the local event in Finland were Speed Cultures, an application that would help in cultural encounters in global business context; Sippy Situations, a podcast for beer-enthousiast, and Global Dog Travels, that would offer flights that welcome dogs of all sizes in the cabin to travel with their owner.

The local event was organised in collaboration with the Vaasa Entrepreneurship Society and the business incubator West Coast Startup.
