UMED: Health is everyone’s responsibility!

As part of pulmonology practical classes, the Semiology and General Medicine Unit (Faculty of Medicine and Pharmacy, UMONS), the Language and Internationalisation Unit (Faculty of Translation and Interpretation, UMONS) and the Internationalisation@Home office of Haute Ecole Condorcet are inviting students from all disciplines and walks of life to take part in discussion tables around health-related issues.

This year, this hybrid event will focus on mental well-being, especially in the case of (chronic) respiratory diseases, and their impact on self-care, treatment management and perceptions of health.

What is it?

The main objective of this hybrid inter-university project is to bring together students from different academic backgrounds to confront perspectives and to reflect on how to better address mental health issues, especially in the case of respiratory diseases. Small interdisciplinary teams will discuss aspects of interculturality, gender, social determinants and socio-economic factors influencing well-being, among others.

Who is it for?

Are you interested in interdisciplinary thinking and learning more about health care? Fancy practising your English speaking skills with peers from different backgrounds?

Whether you are student in social and human sciences, economics, psychology, law, any discipline related to health care, or you simply feel concerned about health and well-being, join us and contribute to the discussion!

In practice

The event will be held on February 18, 2025 from 2:00 to 3:30 pm CET time (check your time zone here) online and simultaneously in the beautiful MUMONS building.

You will then be put in a team of 5 to 6 students and will be asked to discuss a set of questions and come up with possible solutions. The event will be facilitated on site and online.

What can you expect from this event?

  • A relaxed and friendly learning environment: what you really need is a good dose of curiosity and willingness to share!
  • An international event part of the EUNICE European Alliance and in collaboration with UFCSPA, Brazil
  • Official recognition: you will be awarded a digital badge (certificate) for your active participation
