The course covers basic Swedish language skills for everyday communication. Students will learn to confidently introduce themselves, engage in basic conversations, and to understand simple texts and instructions. Through units thematised by the seasons of Sweden, students will acquire vocabulary and grammar structures necessary for effective communication. Cultural awareness elements are integrated throughout the course, providing insights into Swedish customs and traditions.
Swedish for Beginners (Autumn edition)
Upon completion of the course students should be able to:
- demonstrate knowledge of very common words and simple phrases spoken slowly and clearly,
- identify the main content of very simple texts consisting of frequent words, and find specific information in them,
- ask and answer simple questions about very familiar subjects, and
- write short, simple texts and fill out basic forms with personal information.
- No prerequisites other than basic knowledge of English.
