Legal Aspects of Heritage

In the Legal Aspects of Heritage course:

  • The seminars will introduce international law and international environmental law, creation and development of international environmental law, implementation and enforcement strategies of international environmental agreements, international environmental agreements with respect to different topics.
  • The lectures will introduce the process of preparing, adopting and managing an international heritage convention and the related conceptual, political, legal and managerial issues. It will deal with all recently adopted Heritage conventions as well as the 1972 convention. The intangible cultural heritage, a new Convention for the protection of cultural diversity will specifically show that this new instrument covers a highly political issue.

The course consists of weekly synchronous lessons, including lectures and seminars:

  1. Lecture: Advanced Studies of International Environmental Law
  2. Seminar: International Heritage Conventions

Lecture: self-directed online + 3 live sessions

Seminar: THU 1-2.30 pm

  • EUNICE student: enrolled as a master’s degree student in one of the universities of EUNICE European University consortium (check its members here).
  • B2 level of English.
