LC-MS-based untargeted and targeted metabolomics 26-27 S1

The LC‑MS-BASED UNTARGETED AND TARGETED METABOLOMICS course aims to provide students with knowledge on:

  • The fundamental concepts and principles of LC–MS-based untargeted and targeted metabolomics and their applications in biomedical research.
  • The design and implementation of metabolomics studies, from formulating research questions and experimental design to sample analysis and data acquisition.
  • Common approaches for processing, analyzing, and interpreting LC–MS metabolomics data, including pathway analysis and biomarker discovery.
  • The complementary roles of untargeted and targeted metabolomics workflows in the discovery, confirmation, and quantitative validation of metabolic biomarkers.
  • Current applications, opportunities, and limitations of LC–MS-based metabolomics in biomedical and translational research.
  • The principles of critically evaluating scientific literature in the field of metabolomics.

The programme of the course is divided into units:

  • Module I. Introduction to LC–MS based Metabolomics and Study Design
  • Module II. Untargeted LC–MS Metabolomics Workflows
  • Module III. Targeted LC–MS Metabolomics Workflows
  • Module IV. Data Analysis, Interpretation and Integrated Workflows
