Professor Philippe Dubois, Rector of the University of Mons (Belgium), received the insignia of Doctor Honoris Causa from the University of Montpellier (France). He got this distinction in recognition of his close links and collaboration with the Faculty of Sciences at this French insitution in his field of materials chemistry.
On 29 and 30 January 2024, the Faculty of Science and its Chemistry Teaching Department at the University of Montpellier (France) welcomed Prof. Philippe Dubois, Rector of University of Mons, to officially award him the title of Doctor Honoris Causa, a way of honouring “a remarkable colleague with whom the University of Montpellier maintains close links,” sain the french isntitution. “What a pleasure and an honor to have him with us!” they added.
The solemn ceremony was held on 29 January in Montpellier, southern France. On this occasion, Professor Philippe Dubois gave a lecture entitled Chemistry: driving the ecological transition.
Rector of University of Mons since 2018, Professor Philippe Dubois works on catalysis, macromolecular chemistry and the engineering of polymeric and (nano)composite materials, including bio-based materials, within the Polymer and Composite Materials Department, part of the Center for Innovation and Research in Polymer Materials (CIRMAP).
A visiting professor at international universities such as Zhejiang University and Sichuan University in China, and Michigan State University in the USA, Philippe Dubois is also a member of the Belgian Royal Academy of Sciences, Letters and Fine Arts (science class) and the European Academy of Sciences (engineering division).
