The EUNICE Student Advisory Board (ESAB) is convening at the University of Vaasa on 5-6 December 2024. This meeting brings together students from ten EUNICE universities across Europe to discuss and shape the future of the alliance from the students’ perspectives.
The meeting is hosted by University of Vaasa ESAB members Alina Järvipetäjä and Sofié Leikkilä, who are also board members of the Student Union of the University of Vaasa (VYY).
The meetings’ official programme began on 5 December, and the morning sessions included an introduction to the Student Union and updates on ESAB activities at both local and alliance levels. Participants enjoyed a campus tour before engaging in workshops led by the University of Vaasa EUNICE team.
In the workshops, students gave their valuable input on what they see as the strengths and areas of improvement in EUNICE’s current offerings and proposed new ideas and initiatives for future development. The day concluded with a hybrid meeting to wrap up 2024, including a re-evaluation of ESAB regulations and tasks, and the preparation of the annual report.
On 6 December, the agenda includes brainstorming sessions for the 2025 agenda, revising surveys, and creating an onboarding guide for future ESAB members. The meeting will conclude with discussions on any new developments and support needed from ESAB.
This meeting is a significant opportunity for student representatives to collaborate, share ideas, and contribute to the success of the EUNICE alliance.
The event also features social activities where ESAB members get to know the city of Vaasa and Finnish culture. On 6 December, Finland celebrates its independence, and the students will get to see one of the Finnish academic traditions: the Independence Day parade organised by university students at the city center.
