Mikołaj Nowak – a student at the Poznan University of Technology (Poland) is the winner of this online chess tournament participated by over 70 people from different EUNICE universities.

21 May, 2025.- The E-Chess tournament 2025, which took place online via lichess.org platform on 18 May, was won by Mikołaj Nowak, who studies at the Poznan University of Technology (Poland). The second and third places went to Pedro Jose Zambudio Marin from the Universite Polytechnique Hauts-de-France (France), and to Vinet Tristan, from University of Mons (Belgium), respectively.

The tournament was streamed live on Facebook and participated in by a couple of hundred members of the university community within the EUNICE alliance, including students, PhD candidates and staff members.

The E-Chess tournament 2025 was organised by Poznan University of Technology as part of EUNICE’s celebration of the European Month. On 9 May, Europe Day, the Schuman Declaration is commemorated as a symbol of a shared vision for a united Europe and of the promotion of peace, democracy, and cooperation among European nations. EUNICE took the whole month of May to gather several activities that somehow touch the European feeling, as thi chess tournament where, apart from enabling people from far away to get closer together, values like sportiveness, strategic thinking, and tolerance are key.
