International Labour Standards 26-27 S2

The INTERNATIONAL LABOUR STANDARDS course aims to provide students with knowledge on:

• The International Labour Standards system and the role of the International Labour Organization (ILO).
• The development, implementation, and enforcement of global labour rules and standards.
• Fundamental workers’ rights and the key international labour conventions.
• Major global labour challenges, including inequality, exploitation, and decent work.
• The impact of globalization, technological change, and digital transformation on labour markets and employment.
• Contemporary issues and trends in international labour law and labour policy.

The programme of the course is divided into units:

1. Introduction to International Labour Standards (ILS)
2. Structure and Governance of the ILO
3. Core Labour Conventions and implementation and Monitoring of ILS
4. Contemporary Labour Market Challenges
5. Case Studies and Seminars

Timetable:

The course will consist of 15 lecture meetings, held on Mondays or Tuesdays. Each meeting will last 2 academic hours, i.e. 90 minutes. The total duration of the course will be 30 academic hours, corresponding to 22.5 clock hours.

• EUNICE bachelor’s, master’s and doctoral student enrolled as one of the universities of EUNICE European University consortium (check the partner universities here).
• Basic knowledge of law or international relations.
• English B2.
