At the end of the French Presidency of the Council of the European Union, the Campus of European Universities took place today, on 30th June 2022, at the Congress Centre in Versailles, France.

Representatives of 300 institutions participating in the 41 European University Alliances –including EUNICE, the European University for Customised Education– met in Versailles today, 30th June 2022. Other participants from EU Member States and the European Commission, as well as European and other partners from business and society, came together with the particular aim of strengthening the international dimension of the European University Initiative. The French Minister for Higher Education and Research, Sylvie Retailleau, visited the EUNICE stand at the beginning of her tour of the exhibition and informed herself about the course offering and upcoming projects.

Workshops and conferences at European Universities Campus

The event was designed as a campus open to European and global stakeholders in the higher education sector. It gave the Alliances the opportunity to present their activities and objectives to students and other interested parties. Thematic workshops and round table discussions provided a framework to discuss how European Universities contribute to the implementation of the European Strategy.

The conference aimed to promote alliances and cross-border cooperation in higher education, research and innovation. It is part of the European Higher Education Strategy for the Future of Europe and was shaped according to the recommendation of the European Council.

In the course of his speech introducing the French Presidency of the Council of the European Union in December 2021, President Emmanuel Macron called for the organisation of a major meeting of European universities. The Campus of European Universities was organised by the French Ministry of Higher Education and Research together with the French Ministry of Europe and Foreign Affairs and other French institutions.
