The LC‑MS-BASED UNTARGETED AND TARGETED METABOLOMICS course aims to provide students with knowledge on:
- The fundamental concepts and principles of LC–MS-based untargeted and targeted metabolomics and their applications in biomedical research.
- The design and implementation of metabolomics studies, from formulating research questions and experimental design to sample analysis and data acquisition.
- Common approaches for processing, analyzing, and interpreting LC–MS metabolomics data, including pathway analysis and biomarker discovery.
- The complementary roles of untargeted and targeted metabolomics workflows in the discovery, confirmation, and quantitative validation of metabolic biomarkers.
- Current applications, opportunities, and limitations of LC–MS-based metabolomics in biomedical and translational research.
- The principles of critically evaluating scientific literature in the field of metabolomics.
