Location

IPV has four schools located in Viseu: the School of Education, the School of Health, the Agrarian School and the School of Technology and Management. There is also a School of Technology and Management located in Lamego, which serves as a gateway to the Alto Douro Wine Region, a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

The Polytechnic University of Viseu (IPV) is a prominent public institution of Higher Education located in the central region of Portugal, and it plays a pivotal role in the skilling, upskilling and reskilling of the local population.

IPV boasts a diverse student body, comprising over 6,400 students from both national and international backgrounds, as well as a dedicated faculty of 510 members of the teaching staff and 210 non-teaching staff members. It is also home to four research centres, involving approximately 310 researchers, and an interface unit that focuses on delivering specialised services to the community.

Internationalisation plays a vital role in the positioning of IPV and more than 200 ERASMUS+ and bilateral partnerships have been established over the years with European, Asian, African and South American institutions, namely from Portuguese-Speaking Countries.

Beyond the core responsibilities of teaching, researching and innovating, IPV has a significant role in addressing societal challenges, nationally and internationally, contributing to the development of cities and regions and to the promotion of civic engagement.
