Integration and Disintegration Processes in Europe 26-27 S2

The INTEGRATION AND DISINTEGRATION PROCESSES IN EUROPE course aims to provide students with knowledge on:

• The processes of European integration and disintegration from historical, political, social, and economic perspectives.
• The key theories and concepts of European integration.
• The historical development, institutional framework, and decision-making processes of the European Union.
• Major political, social, and economic developments shaping contemporary Europe.
• Current challenges, transformations, and future prospects of the European Union.
• The diversity of European societies and the importance of intercultural awareness in the European context.

The programme of the course is divided into units:

1. Introduction to European integration and disintegration
2. Theories of European integration
3. EU institutions and decision-making processes
4. Political, social, and economic dimensions of integration
5. European identity and diversity
6. The EU in a global context and future perspectives

Timetable:

The course will consist of 15 lecture meetings. Each meeting will last 2 academic hours, i.e. 90 minutes. The total duration of the course will be 30 academic hours, corresponding to 22.5 clock hours.

• EUNICE bachelor’s, master’s and doctoral student enrolled as one of the universities of EUNICE European University consortium (check the partner universities here).
• Basic knowledge of political science and international relations.
• English B2.
