Prof. Jacek Błażewicz was nominated as a member of Academia Europaea, a prestigious European scientific organisation, established in 1988 on the initiative of The Royal Society of London.

The Academy brings together outstanding researchers from the humanities, social, exact and biological sciences. The group includes 8 Polish scientists in the field of computer science. Poznan University of Technology has so far been able to boast of membership in the Academia Europaea of two of its employees: Prof. Elżbieta Frąckowiak and Prof. Roman Słowiński.

Prof. Jacek Błażewicz is a computer scientist and current Director of the Institute of Computing Science, at Poznań University of Technology. His field of research is mainly focused on theory of algorithms and bioinformatics.
