Alice Foti from University of Catania talks about her experience in Science Dissemination Events.

I attended the “Le Mardi des Chercheurs” (Tuesday for Researchers), organised by University of Mons (UMONS, Belgium), and the European Researchers’ Night called “Shaper Night 2022” which was held at University of Catania (UNICT, Italy).

The annual scientific event organised by UMONS includes a Scientific Poster Contest, in which I participated with the paper “Hyaluronan-Au nanorods hybrids for antitumoral plasmonic photothermal therapy”, in collaboration with Spanish colleagues. The six posters by UNICT researchers were also displayed on the EUNICE/REUNICE stand at Sharper Night 2022.

At European Researchers’ Night in Catania, I was also present at my Department’s booth, which organised demonstrations in which many children and young people actively participated.

I chose these opportunities because I thought that they were great to exchange opinions with other researchers and also to share the fun of our work with people which have no knowledge of chemistry.

These opportunities have given me the chance to expand my horizons in many possible ways, especially in the field of communication. The best thing was the contact with other people in an international context.

EUNICE is a great way to create a network with other students and researchers.
