Surgery Club
The Surgery Club provides a space for health sciences students (mainly medicine and nursing students) to explore surgery through practical online experiences, mentorship, seminars, and interdisciplinary activities.
Its aim is to introduce students to different surgical specialties, develop practical skills through workshops and live surgery observation (to be carried out through mobility programs), connect them with surgeons, residents, and other healthcare professionals, support continuous learning, and promote interdisciplinary research and innovation in surgery.
Join this club and explore surgery through practical online experiences!
Club activities:
- The club will organize theoretical and practical sessions (conducted online).
- The idea is to dedicate each month of the academic year to a specific surgical or medical-surgical specialty.
- Each month, a practical session will be held focusing on a technique related to that specialty.
- Theoretical materials will also be provided, along with a session led by a high-level specialist in the form of a seminar on the practical topic.
- This session will also include a more informal component, such as the surgeon’s introduction, an overview of their specialty, the reasons they chose it, and a Q&A session.
- Anything you want to try! Let’s build this club together, so your ideas and wishes shall come true! (Maybe not all. Let’s stay realistic.)
- Target Groups: The club is open to students in health sciences, mainly medicine and nursing, although students from other degrees, such as podiatry, may also participate if these programs are included within the student alliance.
Resources Available
- The club has access to the EUNICE Moodle platform for event organization, basic surgical simulation tools, and audiovisual equipment.
- It also benefits from mentors, including professors and residents, as well as biomedical researchers who guide both practical and academic activities. In addition, the university provides administrative support for event coordination.
Aditional information
- The club is open to seeking sponsorship opportunities to support its activities and development.
Operational regulations
- Membership is open to students interested in surgery, with respect for inclusion and diversity. Participation in activities requires compliance with safety protocols, and all club activities are voluntary and designed to complement, not replace, formal education.
